How to Reach Kasauli

To reach this quaint town you can go either..

By Air- Nearest Airport is Chandigarh Airport (IXC), located 63km or 43 miles from Kasauli.

By Train- Nearest train station is Sonwara (SWO), located 4 km from Kasauli.If you are taking a train, then one of the most popular tourist attractions is the toy train. The Toy Train will ply from Kalka station to Shimla.From Shimla, Kasauli is only 13 kms away.

By Bus- Nearest Bus Stop is at Parwanoo, located 7 km from Kasauli.

1. Nature Walk :-Sometimes this is all you need.

Nature Walk through the two tier rain forest, orchards, and natural greenery give exciting experience . This place works as a medicine if you are tired of your city life.Enjoy the weekend holiday with your family by strolling from Lower Mall up to Kimmughat & Sunset point and around the Sanatorium, the Lover’s Lane, and the cantonment area.A greenforest, thick woods, lovely hillocks and rich flora and fauna, taking the Lover’s Lane trail is among the best things to do in Kasauli.The place also gives the opportunity of taking in some panoramic views of the mighty Himalayan peaks in the distance. 2.Monkey Point

Embark in this exciting trekking expedition in Kasauli and get a chance to explore the divine beauty of this region.The quaint little town of Kasauli is known for its Monkey Point and an old Hanuman Temple that holds a huge religious significance being associated to a story from the epic Ramayana. It is one of the most fascinating things to do in Kasauli.It is at the distance of 4 km from Kasauli bus stop.Taxis are easily available up to the Air Force base from where you need to walk up to the Monkey Point.You can also, enjoy trekking through the routes like Jabli and Sunset Point and explore the most striking vistas. Do not forget your walking shoes and track suits.

You can only visit this temple before 5:00 PM.

3.Gilbert trail:- A Walk in the Woods

Gilbert Trail is a unique nature trail and trekking path in Kasauli. Gilbert trail is a must visit location for a nature lover, photographers, birds lover. It is a bird watcher’s paradise too. The trail starts from Kasauli club and ends at Air force station. The 1.5 km kachha walkway from Lovers’ Lane, along the narrow winding paths of rocky cliffs, is very slippery.You can visit here in any season, as the weather is pleasing throughout the year.

4.Christ Church 

The 160 year old Christ Church is built amidst chestnut and fir groves.What makes this church unique is the fact that it is the oldest church of Himachal Pradesh. Its picturesque structure and scenic beauty attract nature lovers from all across India.The church has a massive grey facade and colourful stained glass windows. Regular Sunday morning services are held here till date.Its situation near the bus stop makes it easy for tourists to pay a visit


5. A joyous journey from Dharampur to Barog.

The toy train is definitely a joy ride and one of the spectacular tourist attractions in Kasauli.

Dharampur is located around 12 Km from Kasauli. This toy train has its nearest railhead from where the toy train operates its service to Shimla and then to Kalka as well. Most of the travelers like visit the toy train from Dharampur to Barog and then back to the same route. 

The entire route commands glorious views of nature and unveils myriad facets of history, art and culture. 

6.Shopping at Kasauli Tibetan Market

Located near Mall Road, Tibetan Market is one of the most well-known shopping hubs of Kasauli. The market is filled with shops which sell textiles, beautiful works of arts and crafts along with the exquisite wooden artwork. Apart from that, Tibetan handicrafts, garments, and woolens are available in abundance in this market. Kasauli is also famous for its large assortment of locally produced and reasonably priced fruit wines. Some of the popular savours are apple wine, plum wine, sherry wine, peach wine, and black grape wine

Its recommend  to carry cash as many shops may not accept cards.

7.Savour some good Tibetan food.

Kasauli has a variety of dumplings on its menu to serve one and all. This silent land is no less than heaven for every food lover. The thukpas and the dim sums are best enjoyed from road side stalls instead of any high end multi-cuisine restaurant.

Take a bite of the one of a kind, Bandsamosa It may not be surprising if you get to meet people who arrive in Kasauli just to have this amazing thing. It costs a mere 8-10 bucks and is available at all sweet shops however it’s best eaten at Narinder Sweet Shop.

8.Evening Hangout

This famous terrace café is located at the top of the Kasauli Regency Hotel. Ask any local for directions, and they’ll be able to give you crystal clear directions to this place. Come here for breakfast to enjoy lovely morning hill-views. To enjoy awesome music, come here in the late evening for dinner. There is a range of cuisines to choose from, including Indian, Chinese and Italian, as well as a well-stocked bar.
